The Bahama shutters pictured here are a partial overlay.  This serves as a sun shade but also allows the homeowner to plenty of light. 

The shutters are painted and installed with functional top hinges custom shutter stays to support them on the open position.

Constructed of 1 1/4" cedar frames built mechanically reinforced butt joints, these shutters are built to last a lifetime.  The louvers are all cedar as well.

Cedar is a naturally insect and rot resistant wood ideal for outdoor applications.  The fact that cedar is relatively light, saves wear on the hardware, also promoting long life.
